My recommendation to you is to get a live teacher. Its expensive, but you will make maximum advantage of the time. A good teacher will get you past a lot of bottlenecks and give you the motivation to stick with it. I tried to learn and keep up with the guitar and other instruments over many years and it only stuck when I went out and got lessons.

i agree that there are a lot of good resources out there too. Berkely school of music has distance learning options for mid range students to advanced. I doubt its cheap, but it might be worth looking into.
