Saw it last night. Have to see it again because my freakin' new contacts and our seat location made the subtitles nearly unreadable (I'll rent the DVD when it's out).
While it may be an "in" thing to like Tarantino, I like his work because of its uniqueness - can't really think of other directors to compare him to.
I'm not a "fan" of violence in movies but, to me, Tarantino's use of it somehow transcends being gratuitous. If it were taken out I think the "adult comic book" character that I percieve and like in all his work would be diminished.
If I have any criticism of the movie it's that some portions struck me as moving at a "Twin Peaks" pace, which worked for Lynch but I didn't care for it in this movie (could have to do with my freakin' contacts

).
