3/8 inch is 9.5 mm.

I used a 3/8 inch ball in mine with no problems.

You should be able to find a 3/8 loose ball at any bearing house.

They sell 9mm sling shot ammo overseas. Which is just 9mm ball bearings. Check e-bay or search 9mm slingshot ammo.
