My thought has always been that, within reason, most cars are usable as daily drivers provided you stay on top of the maintenance, which most enthusiasts here do. There is a very great difference in the garage time invested between commuting with a 20 yr old Porsche and a new Honda, but both are doable. I am considering getting a 964 for frequent use myself.
I agree with the above that every trip doesn't need to be a long one, but certainly some or most should be, with these cars. Porsche engines don't like stasis...
