Any alternative to giant CD changers for audiophile?

I would like to set up my massive CD collection for easy listening. So I am looking online...100...200... 300 CD changers OH MY!

However the reviews are not that stellar... dropped Cd's... scratched Cd's... marginal sound quality... Hmmm what to do.

There has to be a better way.

I am sure there is a way to copy all my Cd's onto a hard drive and play them back, but as a audiophile I fear that anytime you copy or convert media you loose some quality?

Any ideas PPOTers?
