My speedometer cable failed this past weekend. I removed it from the speedo to see if it was rotating to isolate the problem. It does not rotate! In fact I was able to pull on the inside cable (isn't supposed to be locked onto the housing at the wheel?).

My big concern is how this cable runs through the dash, trunk and down to the front wheel, attachment points and R&R procedures.

Anyone have any experience with removing and replacing speedometer cables?

Can the interior cable just be replaced or do you have to buy the whole unit?
