These two statements are completely opposite each other.

The statements are not opposite. The exhaust pipes are not magnetic, but the heat exchanger box parts are. In other words, it's almost as the manufacture used stainless on the boxes, but skimped on the rest.
I'll post pics tomorrow. I'd like to get some comments on the pics. Everything I've read about SSIs regarded them as quality product. These exchangers are not impressive quality wise.
