The bridgestones *are* pretty good. They have a silica-enhanced rubber compound (rubber with sand) that works pretty durned good in the rain. Better than anything else I've tried...The 960's are under $100/tire in 215/60/15 (stock 944 size), shipped, from tire rack or tires.com. Stay away from Kumho if you want grippy in the wet on the street. I have had two different sets of them and they're like grease.
