Also consider that one-side of a knee may be "replaced" (termed uni-compartmental surgery) if that is a good option for your situation.

I'd have the arthroscopy to clean up the meniscus as much as possible and minimize further damage, evaluate the importance of activites which may be hurting your knee(s) and lose weight (different than trying to lose weight).
