I recently debated getting one of the stainless ones when the air box blew on my 83 SC but ended up getting one of the after market aluminum ones. I feel the stock plastic boxes are a serious weak point in the design of the SC and they definitely have a limited life span-25 years years in that hot engine compartment will take its toll. What will happen to the SC's when the replacement stock boxes are NLA? The stainless one will last forever and has a built in relief valve. I'd be curious to know how well they work.
I spoke with Alec Webb who is making the stainless ones again and probably would have sprung for one if I didn't get the aluminum one first. Following is a copy of an email he sent me with contact info if interested.
