Some good news today. I spoke to John Daniels from SSI and he confirmed what has already been stated in this thread. Another way you can tell is SSIs do not weld on a support flange from the heater box to the pipe just before where the flange meets the collector/muffler. Only very early first year run units had this. The support is not needed and would would break here as John explained. All SSIs have a serial # stamped, but they are not logged for reference. They're unique, but he doesn't keep a record. To make this even worse. These are not even for a 3.2. There's a inlet pipe at the top of the exchanger (which is plugged) for an MFI setup. An O2 bung hacked in.
John was absolutely amazing. He is willing to help me prove my case and spent well over an hour talking about engine efficiency and the after-market in general. He had no obligation to do so. They don't come much nicer that's for sure.
He maybe contacting the shop that sold these to my seller as well.
