you have to take the speedo apart, use a fork on a rag to pop off the speedo needle, then it should be obvious how things come apart.
Pay attention to the connections to the speedo when it is refitted to the housing the elex contacts here are usually the failure points if the gear is good.
Use a pink eraser to clean the contacts
