If electric cars are a significant part of our personal transportation future, they will need to go to service station-replaceable battery packs, and to be an economical / practical way to "refuel," a standard for this will need to be adopted. If I was in the automotive industry, this would be one of my priorities.
Of course, satisfying our future transportation needs with electric cars is still a big
if.
