If your father had a will, I would cross reference the items listed in the will versus what is in hand. This would give a clear indication that he intended someone to have the item and that it should still be present. Also, just check out the local pawn shops over the next 3-4 months to see if anything pops up. We had been burgalrized once and a good portion of the items were recovered from various pawn shops. I also agree with the guys about talking to some of his close friends to see if your father gave them anything or mentioned giving some items away to others....
