We needed a caregiver for my Dad a while back. We initially went with a 'for hire' service because of time and needs. The caregivers them selves were ok. One or two pretty good. It was the service that started to pad the time plus questionable billing practices.

We decided to hire someone on our own to control expenses and increase the quality. I interviewed many candidates. Once we made our final choice I performed my own extensive background check; to include any criminal activity including a credit check. With this particular person we interviewed three seperate times before finally deciding she was the one. You can not be too careful.
