Targa to Coupe Roof Conversion

I currently have a very mechanically sound 84 Targa. I love the car, but am really wanting the look of a coupe. Not to mention, I would love to track the car as funds become available (after I graduate). I am wanting advice on converting my Targa top to a NSR coupe top. I have searched but didn't find any write-ups dealing with this. The closes thing I found was a couple of track cars running full fiberglass roofs, but over full cages. If possible, I would like to stay away from a cage at this point. Has anyone taken a Targa and welded a coupe roof on and left it like that? Obviously the doors will have to be changed and glass added for the new roof. I am concerned that the structure of the car will be compromised. But then again, with the top out, I don't know how much structural integrity is added by the Targa bar and rear glass alone. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Chris
