I went through about 5 sets of HS Maggies when I rode trials. In fact, my single speed cruiser has a set of HS-33's on it, still. Good brakes, but certainly not the best. Avid V-brakes with Plaz pads or Spanish Fly pads were superior, and certainly more reliable. The Maggies offered better modulation, but 10 foot drop-offs demanded reliability.
