I like the overall concept, as I have considered the same. A few thoughts:

1) I am not sure sure if you need the leather pull strap since you are retaining the arm rest, which also acts as a pull mechanism to close the door.

2) I am concerned about he leather window strap getting in the way of the arm rest. The length of the strap in your drawing does not really accurately reflect the true length of the strap when the window is pulled all the way up.

3) Also, are you planning on retaining the original glass? My understanding is that the leather strap will stretch over time with the lightweight R glass, so I am sure it will stretch even more with normal glass.

Question for all: How does the strap design affect the stability of the window? In other words, does this design increase window rattle?
