Rotating mass will also delay the rev response.
It's a street C6, not a C6R. Heavier flywheel if manual, and spinning a torque converter if automatic. Racers will also use non-counter weighted crankshafts for better response.
I have seen SBCs with very quick response, even on a single carb.
