I went to the range today. It's been too long since the last time I went. This was my third trip to the range since I bought a gun. I've been dry fire practicing and have read Brian Enos' book "Practical Shooting". I only load 5 shots into the mag to keep things slow. I still managed to go through 350 rounds in 1.5 hours today.
I'm still shooting low and left, but not as bad as I was previously. If I really relax, I can shoot dead center, but my shooting is at least consistent.
The range that I go to is an indoor that's got marks spray painted at 3, 7 and 15 yards (the qualification distances for a CCW in Texas) so I do most of my shooting at 7 yards and a little at 3 and 15.
Here's my best 5 shot group at 7 yards from today not bad at less than an inch all around. Now I just need to make all of my groups at 7 yds that tight and bring them up and over to the center. I printed these targets out at work. The rings are about .5" thick.
And here's a 15 yard sheet. At least all of the shots hit the paper.
I had a heck of a good time and saw a lot of improvement from the last time I went to the range. I credit that to the book and the dry fire practice.
After I got back from the range I went to Walmart and bought 400 more rounds of 9mm ($84) and found a box of 38spl so I grabbed that, $15 for 50rds. I've got 700rds of 9mm and ~75rds of 38. The guy at Walmart said that he stocked today. They had at least 1000 rds of 9mm, probably close to that of .40S&W. They also had 45acp, 25acp, 32acp, 38spl, 357sig, 357mag and 44mag. They only had 1 box of most of those.
