I feel badly for Haga as well, as he had control of the championship all year. Both riders had mis-steps along the way this year - mechanical issues, other riders taking them out of races, Haga getting hit by that bird, Spies running out of fuel, etc, etc.
Can't be happier for Spies though and you can't overlook / deny what he's done - 14 wins, 11 poles and WSBK Championship in his rookie year, on a new bike with a new team in a new series on tracks he hadn't ridden previously.
