I know what you mean. I stripped my car down for the repaint and labeled every thing and every wire with masking tape and a description written on the masking tape but the painter (gawd knows why) decided to thread them back throuh panels and rip half the labels off. The other half were ruined by the guy having pushed the car out into the rain, or hosed it down, or something. PITA.

What I would do if I was you would be to get someone else with a 911 to come around and look at where their wires go.
