Solid mounts where used on race cars. The Porsche race dept. has some versions.
AFIR the Convertible mounts are softer and Porsche had to use a reaction damper to avoid the car get shaked by the engine.
The normal way to tune the mount hardness is by turning the big cuplike washers from showing outwards to showing inwards.
