i worked for the vw rally team some years back when they were running the gen. 1 rally golf . as for turning a 944 into a rally car yes it can be done ! but the 944 has alot of under hanging parts on that cars body . both in the front and rear of the car . there is no such thing as (light) rallying ! you will build a car thinking its built good and strong and you will still brake things and start spliting body seams . the front cross member and control arms are weak along with the rear trailing arms . so its more that just installing skid plates in the front and rear .
