The part number you are referring to is what Porsche calls the crossover pipe. The old number is 951 111 096 13 and has been replaced with 951 111 096 15.

If it is that pipe, you or your mechanic should be able to get to it with a stethescope (sp?) to narrow it down. I find it hard to believe since that pipe doesn't see nearly the temps of the pipe off the turbo or the downpipe does. I would have him listen to the pipe I am referring to. I guess I am trying to say, determine if it is coming from the turbo side or the exhaust manifold side.
