It turns out I have a friend who used to be a factory trained Porsche mechanic (even speaks German). I think he is willing to help me take it apart and do the inspection, recommend parts/machine work and then come back when I am ready to reassemble. Sounds like a dream come true!! And he still has most of his tools!!
If I go this route is any body interested in coming over and seeing his advice on the inspection/reinstallation first hand??
I was thinking it would be really cool to have the motor on the stand and have him show us how it "feels" when the valves are adjusted correctly - valve gapping is so subjective.
I will keep you posted, sounds like Sanderson is the way to go for any head work.
