Read your post and would like to extend a helping hand. I did a engine rebuild on my 78 SC Targa year before last - disassembled it completely.

If you would like, I have quite a selection of tools which I can contribute if you decide to take on the task yourself. The best thing would be to drop the engine, then disassemble.

I have the floor jacks, floor stands, dolly for the engine, engine hoist if needed along with a helping hand. If you are interested, list which weekend you want to do it. The engine drop should take about 3 hrs, from then on, its a cakewalk.
