Very, very nice work, 911jettat! I may go this route...
I pulled the flag mirrors off my '88 last winter and installed Ruf/935 mirrors, with d/f tape. I wanted to see if I could live with them before doing a permanent installation. Well, I liked them, so it was time to address the door holes. I figured I'd fabricate some nice thin cover plates and paint them body color. Tried several versions of that and couldn't get anything to really fit right or look right. So I've been ready to weld up the door holes and repaint the doors. That would be the first irreversable thing I've done to the car, and I'm a little reluctant. But what the hell, I'm so far down the slippery slope, it's never going back to stock.
Do you know - IF you had mounted directly to the door, would they have covered the old mirror holes?
However, these look really good and would be an acceptable compromise. Might go this way. Thanks for the post!
