At least by doing this it offers some good parts at reasonable prices for people who want to try working or building a car on their own. One car being torn down may help resurrect many.

I have mixed feelings on this. anyone hates to see an example of a car we love destroyed. but, if any of us had to pay full price for new porsche parts, not too many of us would be driving these cars.
have a look through the CIS section on pelican, the part prices compared to common used prices will convince you. how many cars would be parked rather than driven for the lack of $500 for an air regulator for CIS? or over $500 for a blown airbox. when you can buy a complete CIS for $400-$500 used.
all in all I consider these cars a relative bargain to drive. mostly because of the cost and availability of good, used parts.
