The 'no records b/c of privacy' is bs and his desire to direct the ppi to his guy is a red flag. The car sounds ok and is priced competitively, but a real pcar pro (with 996 knowledge) needs to look at it so you can go in eyes wide open. Frankly, if the Porsche service dept nitpicks the car, so be it, but I doubt they'll invent issues. If it checks out ok, it's seems like a nice buy.

Do you know how he got the car? Previous owner(s)? Also, with the vin you can usually get Porsche dealer service history.

Where do you live? Any other reputable pcar / 996 independent shops nearby? Might be a good idea to at least drive a couple more cars if you can.
