My goal in adding more lights is to triangulate the cage facing portion of the bike. The addition of more lights gives cagers a 3-D point of reference when you are at an intersection (or passing them from behind). I'm after "size definition". Those pulsating modulators don't really work if the cager doesn't know what they are looking at.

The challenge so far has been how to mount more lights: I could fab some brackets, but cant figure out where to mount them on my R1200S. PIAA and Suburban Machinery both have light mounting brackets that attach to the front fender with a single screw, but I'm not sure how durable that would be - they look like they'd work themselves loose easily, and would get totally trashed in a tip-over.

I'm leaning toward brackets from Hawks Products International -

I'd order the "5 Talon Hawk" size, with just one hole - not the combo (which is designed for lights and dorkpegs). These would be mounted under the valve cover (not on top as pictured below), and look fairly durable.

This second pic, although on a different, bigger, bracket, show some scale and how PIAA 1100X's would look.

Does this look totally dorky, or bad assed?

I'm in the process of using the Hawk mounts with a pair of Hella FF50's on my '04 11S. Brackets and lights are mounted, now just need to pull the tupperware for the wiring, using an Autoswitch for light activation. Had to play around a bit with the bracket/light position, but worked it out after some experimentation. I used a similar setup on the 1150R bike previously, and really loved the light pattern and the fact that with the fog beams no bothers to other road users. That triangle of light IMHO works better than the headlight modulators. It's VERY noticeable, but also not irritating...

Cheers! Bill J
