If you're going to leave the spider in place, then you must plug it at the end. If you've already cut the drive belt, then it should be a simple matter of unbolting and removing the pump. Mine was already gone (and in a box of parts) when I bought my 930, but it can't be a big deal to remove it I wouldn't think.
