Well, I just bought one so, as they say, it is worth what someone will pay.

I was specifically looking for a mid year car with no rust and I am in NYC metro area. So the deal is that there are basically no mid year cars without rust in the north east....they are all on the west coast.

My price range was $7,500 if it needed everything (project) up to $15,000 for a well sorted and documented car. To me mileage is irrelevant with a car this old, the speedo could have been swapped or a car with 175k on the clock could have been really well maintained. The value will be primarily determined by the actual condition and the originality of parts.

I had 2 nice cars, both ’76 sunroof coupes, one in WA and one in VA that were offered to me at $12,000….

I looked and looked and looked some more. My wish list was:
coupe, no sunroof, no ac, no power windows, white ext. black int. No rust. No rust. No rust.

As it happens I found a car that matched all of the criteria within 20 min. of my house. The car was at a specialist repair shop and was a previous client’s project. The engine will be rebuilt with weber carbs, a rebuilt trans, the suspension and brakes have already been rebuilt. I will need to finish out the interior while the engine is finished and then the shop will put the engine and trans back in and make sure everything is sorted and documented. I have also seen work that this shop has done here on the forum and it was top notch.
So basically I found the PERFECT car for me....the shop was asking $15k I offered $12.5 and they took my offer.

My point to this whole thing is that if you can find your buyer and are located in an area where supply of these cars is limited you are probably in the 12-15k range, for a coupe. Personally I think 10-12k sells the car. Your location may play a large part in the deal. However, I agree that pictures may push it up or down by $2500 depending on the condition and documentation.

As usual everyone here is right on the money.
