Very cool. Serious "penalty" for an "off" in some of those turns! I have driven up the Peak twice, the last time in a Malibu rental car...at far slower speeds, & my wife was still freaked out by the drop-offs.
I haven't looked it up, but I believe the record run is 10:08 or something close to that. In fact, Rod Millen may hold the record in that Toyota single-seater "special" he used to run. As I recall, no one has ever broken the 10-minute barrier. Weather is a factor -- it is often too icy/slippery to go for the record.
My son & a friend hiked up the Peak this summer, on a trail, not the road. Took them about 7 hours. And it was snowing at the top...in June.
