After 11 months of basically the same cost every month, mine went up 200%. They couldn't explain the dramatic difference and I had to pay the bill. Never happened again. I think they do it every once in a while because you can't prove anything, just want to make a few bucks for Christmas bills. Mine happened in Feb. 2006 and I'm still pissed at National Grid, idiots!
All they say is that "you must have used the power or the meter wouldn't read accordingly" Ha Ha, your screwed.
