My guess is that you may be able to upgrade/change drivers to fix the problem. Sometimes Windows is better and sometimes the driver from the manufacturer is better. If you try one different from what you're using now, make sure they both aren't trying to work at the same time. You can usually click a box to tell Windows not to manage a wireless connection (at least you could before 7).
