How about something like:
"I would love to help you travel here, but my account is locked up. I just inherited $30 million from a deceased uncle and it is in a local account, but I need to come up with the $25,000 lawyer and processing fees up front before I can get the money released to me. It's too bad I cannot get to it to help you with your trip back here. If I only had a way to get a little more money soon, I could be rich..."
