Thanks Tabby...enjoyed looking at the pics. But nothing in the cues got me drooling. Not many true collectible customs shown there...possible exception the AE. They are a top level custom, but still made today, so not really sought after by collectors who could simply commission one made to their taste. But many of the names are "production", factory cues...that would be Schon, Jacoby (I played with one of those before buying a custom Josey), McDermott, (Cindy now plays with one..a good USA cue factory), Viking (another good USA cue factory)...so, the vast majority would be considered "players"...cues to play with, assuming they felt good to the player. Some even made me LOL...that would be Lucasi...Viper, and a couple of others...those are cheap import (read Taiwan) brands...not really great playing cues, but okay for taking into places where you wouldn't mind having the cue stolen. I took a Viper on my road trip...think I paid $60 for it, then paid John, the cue guy at the cue ball, $20 to put a nice layered tip on it.
Really tho...looking these over, I think the owner was more a player looking for that magic wand, the cue that doesn't miss than a serious collector of rare cues.
Oh...see the Meucci brand? They have the rep. of not being as good as they used to be. Meucci...I won one in a pool paper essay contest for Leland...they also are "factory" cues. Leland got in on the last years of the good ones, before Meucci went to the "dot" shafts. Lee has a nice cue...a shame he's not a pool player. Perhaps he'll someday have a son he could pass it on to.
But really, I buy cues to use...not to collect. My one collectible cue I bought to play with back in the early 70's. That would be a Palmer model M from his 2nd catalog...known as the "Palmer Supreme". Gene Balner, it's maker, is no longer with us, which partially explains why it's desirable.
So, you see any firearms that make you drool?
