My kids are 25, 21 and 16. They understand that so long as they keep believing in Santa that his will always remember them.

The Xmas presents always magically appear overnight Xmas eve.
Their Xmas stockings are filled with lots of little fun things and have always had an apple at the bottom in the toe.
Santa always leaves a large tray of chocolates for the family to share as they unwrap their presents.
The milk and cookies are left out and always get eaten - yet we have never had a chimney.
And Santa must cook in that suit when he makes it down here - it's 12 days to Christmas and I'm in shorts and t-shirt. Temp? How about 95 today.

Its a great tradition - and not only enjoyed by little kids.
