But I don't know if I would ever be her friend.
Chances are, her and I would never be friends because of the way we look.
That's what I got out of the movie.
I didn't see it as race based as much as appearance based. I try to be nice to everyone but what I got out of the movie was someone that looks like that has to try so much harder just to be respected.
True her upbringing was a nightmare, and something like that will probably never be overcome. But it would be so much harder with the way she looked.
What I saw was an unattractive, black girl, never going to get a break in life.
She is going to be perpetually in the system because that is where the system want's her.
I liked the movie. There were times when I thought all the air was sucked out of the theatre. The whole place was so still.
P.S. I also like how some of the more 'proud to be ignorant' posters above refuse to see it.
