I had a similar problem on a 993TT. Turns out it was the ECU. Mine was the early non flashable ecu that had a "piggy back" chip inserted into its board. When the guy I sold my old ecu to for scrap removed this it worked perfectly.
If you think anyone has flahsed your ECU or even if they have not it might be worth a try. My symptons were everything was fine other than no spark or fuel.
