You do get what you pay for. That said, I want to buy some fixed back seats. If I buy a FIA approved seat, it will be made of fiberglass. How much safer is fiberglass?
I am not knowledgeable about seat safety in any way, I wish someone that was would chime in. In the case of forward momentum, the harness attached to the roll bar will keep you in place. What I do know about crashes is that there can be all kinds of unpredictable, and massive forces acting in different directions. Race cars use fiberglass...how can that be safe? Unless the seat is braced at the back, or attached to the roll bar. It is a laughable subject, because the seats are so cheap.
