Sweet stuff and a very comfy ride, I'm sure. We've got Campy Ergos on all of our road bikes and tandems as well, about 1/2 9 speed and 1/2 10 speed. The only bike that I'm running Record on is our Calfee tandem... and most of that was bought second hand off of Ebay.

The closest I've gotten to carbon wheelsets is a set of Topolino AX3.0-Ts that we use on the tandems. They use a 30mm deep aluminum rim with composite hubs and a hybrid carbon & kevlar spoke network built up in two halves. Their insanely lightweight at 1,450 grams given that they're intended for use on tandems that weigh upwards of 300lbs - 380lbs full loaded with two adults. Reliability hasn't been as good as advertised, imagine that... But, warranty and support has been very good if you ignore the shipping costs. Our other "exotic" wheels include what are now a fairly-well dated set of Campy Eurus G3s, a set of Rolf Prima Vigor tandem wheels and some other conventional wheelsets that I've built up over the years, including some really old Sun Tour Superbe Pro 32t hubs laced to some Mavic GL330 tubbies.

I think some of our brother Pelicans would faint if they knew how much money can get tied up in the bicycle stuff. I sometimes simply shake my own head in disbelief when I think too much about it. But, hey, it's still cheaper than a lot of other hobbies.
