Vin - no issues with EFI ancillary device mounting (eg. sensors for crank timing etc)?
Like I posted earlier, I would stripe everything off the old engine and install it on the new long block. I figure this would be better than rebuilding the old engine. The long block would cost me $375, but rebuilding the old block would likely cost me more in parts and machining.
