Most cops are great and do a job I wouldn't ever want to have to do dealing with the scum-of-the-earth on a daily basis, however as with any profession there are a few douchebags. The guy in the O.P. example is one such example. I find nothing whatsoever "funny" about it. This is a seriously unstable individual out there on the public dole with a badge and a gun. Scary stuff. I'm seriously disappointed that this incident was not reported and (hopefully) investigated.

Yeah the homeless guy was an idiot but OTOH this cop has ZERO business acting out in anger like that while on the job. None. They are supposed to "protect and serve". I'm sure there are incidents every day for most cops that make them WANT to give some idiot a smack across the mouth, but part of what makes them worthy of society's respect is the ability to stay cool under such situations and do their jobs - you know, like professionals. I respect any cop that can do that. The ones that put up with the name-calling, the abuse, the being spat at, swung at, etc. It's undoubtedly a difficult job but what makes some cops "heroes" worthy of my respect and admiration and other ones just goons with a uniform is how they REACT to such situations.

It's not just cops either. I've seen "professionals" in the business world make both respectable gentlemen of themselves and others make complete a-holes of themselves who will never get my respect based on their ACTIONS in the face of adversity, stress, etc.

"Taking the high road" always makes one take notice and goes a long way towards earning my respect. Acting like a goon doesn't. It doesn't impress me and it doesn't intimidate me. I don't find this issue entertaining in the least. Or funny. This is a serious problem and it absolutely should be reported and acted upon.
