Everyone else has added their two cents, making a grand total of like 44 cents for ol nostadic, so I am going to throw in mine to help the cause. I guess this is how I look at things, I unlike nostatic make nowhere near 200k a year. I am a college student (paying for own car and insurance which for me is like 2k a year). Basically, I set goals, and try to achieve them, like anything the Porsche was a goal, something I have always wanted, and many doubted I could accomplish at such a young age. But I worked 3 jobs last summer and am doing the same thing this summer. I recently purchased a 82 sc targa. The car is not in showroom condition but not bad either. When I finally got the car it was kind of anticlimactic; for I though it would change my life somehow. Of course I love the car and was in no way disappointed, it was just not what I had expected, so I feel that I suffer like nostatic does in that the hunt was more enjoyable than the actual kill. In my case the hunt was not finding the right one it was working hard to do something that people didn’t think I could do. But once achieving it people did not look at the car and think “gee that guy must have worked really hard,” rather I get a lot of that must be daddy’s car, or he must be some rich little prick. So I just found the whole thing a little anticlimactic, but then again now that I have owned the Porsche for a few months, I could not see myself driving anything but a Porsche. So I guess I don’t know. But nostatic I say if it’s the hunt you enjoy, hunt away. But remember you only live once and personally I want to spend as much of that time as I can in a Porsche with a beautiful woman beside me…… Now for the beautiful woman thing.
