Very frustrating and time consuming.
I've decided that I will have to wait for the inevitable SP1 for W7 for an effective Homegroup fix...

I haven't really used the Homegroup much, but since your post I have been rebooting my notebook and checking Homegroups performance.
No issues. Works fine and one of the libraries I am checking is 450gigs! (mp3's)
