Jim727: Thanks for that thoughtful post. And thanks to everyone else as well.

Have done a ton of reading on all of this over the past couple of days, and all the issues are coming into focus.

I realize now how long we have been in denial about my mothers very serious health issues —always wanting to believe that her behavior was simply a manifestation of the eccentricity of age.

Time to roll up the sleeves and make a few changes.
