Noisy Lifters -- The Final Solution
Noisy Lifters -- The Final Solution
Time to change the oil in the replacement engine. Has had noisy lifters since it was installed. Had sat for almost four years from a disabling engine fire. This engine has about 130,000 miles and runs strong. Oil pressure is normal to great.
So I search the previous threads on engine lifters and find that adding a bit of ATF and running it just might clear up the oil passages and the lifters.
Now if I add a 1/2 quart or so how long should I run it before changing the oil? Should it be a full quart?
With a full belly of ATF it was no more than 20 to 30 minutes.
What has been this groups experience?

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?
