Tough call, but whatever you do, DO NOT GET RID OF IT!!!!!!! You will kick yourself in the @ss someday if get rid of that thing being that it was you're late father's bike since new. I personally would not frankenstein a sentimental item like that. I don't care for the look of those 70's BMWs either, but someday it will be valuable and the look will grow on you then (kind of how I view 914s now).
